No loose dogs here...

Loose dogs?  We ain't seen no loose dogs 'round here.

Size matters

Some days you are just not up to the task but there is no reason for the long face...

The sun is ready to head back north

The clouds move away as the sun returns
The ground thankful for the moisture
The sun goes south for only a few days more
Then brings longer days with its north turn.

Heading to winter bone dry in Oklahoma

Winter is but days away.
The clouds now block the sun
But this western town has no rain today
Will these clouds be the ones

Last sunrises of summer 2012

Summer 2012 comes to an end.

Summer days have not.

The land remains hot and dry,

But tomorrow's sunrises belong to the fall.

This is Oklahoma.

Yield

The juxtaposition of sign and sky
Remind us of the One to whom we should yield.
Self aware creatures that we are ask “why?”
But God’s glory all around us cannot be concealed.

This is Oklahoma!

To realize that we are alive

We live most of our lives

between sunrise and sunset.

But sometimes we need to pause

at both ends to realize that we are alive.

This is Oklahoma.

Thanks be to God!

Sunrise in a dry land

Sunrise with clouds

What a rare combination

In this drought stricken part

Of this now scorched nation.

This is Oklahoma.

 The Lord will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.

You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.

Isaiah 58:11
New International Version (NIV)

So close...

So close to success

So far from home.

'Tis the life of the tortoise

These highways to roam.

This is Oklahoma.

Sunrise, Sunset

Sunrise in August.

Sunset in August.

Clouds are precious and few.

Perhaps the day will grant us some shade.

This is Oklahoma.

July Sunrise

Sunrise in July 2012.

Already in the high 80's.

Clouds provide a brief reprieve from the sun.

Not for long.

This is Oklahoma.

Got Shade?

Location, location, location.

Prime real estate in pastureland is shade.

Shade is prime real estate.

Got Shade?

This is Oklahoma.

Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th

The sun has gone as far north as it will go,

and has begun its southern journey.

The days are still long and the sunrise is still a thing of majesty.

This is Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Stonehenge

Objects in an open field.

Worn and weathered.

No apparent function.

Oklahoma's Evergreens

Wheat fields are green in the winter,

Brown in the summer.

Pasture land is green in the summer,

Brown in the winter.

But Oklahoma has its evergreens,

Cedar and sage are Oklahoma's evergreens.

This is Oklahoma.

The sun and the cross

It is the most photographed sight in Burns Flat.

Yet is new every time.

The sun and the cross.

The Son and the cross.

Thank God for the Son and the cross.

This is Oklahoma.

Give me a home...

Give me a home

Where the buffalo roam.

Well these are not roaming, but they colorfully remind us of a time when they did.

West of Oklahoma City with clouds rolling in on a June day.

This is Oklahoma.

OKC

These were taken after the Barry Manilow concert.  Yes, I was there.

Soon and very soon, the downtown OKC area will once again be filled with OKC Thunder fans.

This is Oklahoma.

THUNDER UP!

Mangum Alumni Parade 2012

Hot day in May 2012.

Airmen march with colors.

Alumni ride with their classes.

Kids chase candy and beads thrown from passing vehicles.

This is Oklahoma.

Quartz Mountain Resort short on water but not wind

View from the lodge...

The water is far off now.

And much down from the norm.

But it doesn't slow the boaters down.

A full value wind.

This is Oklahoma.
