End of December and 2016

It is late December.  The year is almost gone.  The days have grown as short as they can get.  It is time for the sun to head north again.

This is the day that the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Sometimes, the sunrise behind the cross just says it all.

It is good to begin the day with affirmations such as this.

There is a 100 percent chance of weather today in Oklahoma

In Oklahoma, the weather can go from sunny to windy to cloudy to all of the above in minutes.  If you love change, then you will surely love Oklahoma weather.

For the moment, it's cloudy.

A stop over for migrating butterflies

Green grass and milkweed make for a pleasant June and for a haven for the butterflies.  Many don't like the milkweed in their pastureland, but it sure does help the butterflies as the migrate each year.

Milkweed may be the only plant where some butterflies can deposit their eggs and that makes food for the newborn.larva or caterpillars.

All that we can see

Sometimes it is all that we can see...

and it is enough for those times.

Winter is coming but today the sun shines through.

The morning of November 6th comes in full majesty.

Winter, where is your sting?

Oh winter, where is your sting?
Your winds are cold.
The snow is blinding.
The drifts block roadways.
Ice makes travel treacherous.
But the sun comes quickly.
And you must be on your way.

The sun is ready to head back north

The clouds move away as the sun returns
The ground thankful for the moisture
The sun goes south for only a few days more
Then brings longer days with its north turn.

Heading to winter bone dry in Oklahoma

Winter is but days away.
The clouds now block the sun
But this western town has no rain today
Will these clouds be the ones

To realize that we are alive

 We live most of our lives

between sunrise and sunset.

But sometimes we need to pause

at both ends to realize that we are alive.

Already in the high 80's.

Clouds provide a brief reprieve from the sun.

Not for long.

Yet is new every time.

The evening's rain is slow in saying "goodbye."

Light tries to find its way to the earth.

Rays slice through the clouds one by one.

Some seem to come from a different direction.
